The American costume is an appealing pair of threads interwoven by Black trauma. The kids look cool in it, but they are in pain. Not their pain. Our pain.
The pain that is taken for granted when America performs acts of civility while engaging in the stealing of humanity. America's bloody veneers are not her own and those grills were never golden. Many have sojourned to find that gold. But, the foolishness of colonialism is that you cannot steal culture. You can only create it. HYCIDE has discovered that necessity, and it is golden.
HYCIDE is removing the American costume and unveiling a humanity that has been hidden by performance art. The performance of an America designed by revolution and constructed around the rule of law, which has completely dismissed the humanity that was trampled by this song and dance.
